The Rolex Daytona Panda refers to the Cosmograph chronograph with a white lacquer dial and three black counters. The contrast, which recalls the animal's mask, is one of the chronograph's oldest aesthetic codes: it already appeared on vintage Daytona models from the 1960s, and it has never ceased to be the most sought-after dial in the collection.
Two references carry this dial on the second-hand market: the 116500LN, produced from 2016 to 2023, the first steel Daytona with a black Cerachrom bezel, and the 126500LN, which succeeded it in 2023 with a redesigned case and the 4131 calibre. The simplest marker is found on the counters: the 126500LN adds a metal ring around each of them, absent on the previous generation. The case back is also slightly different, and the lugs have been refined. In use, the 4131 calibre brings the Chronergy escapement and better efficiency, while retaining the 72 hour power reserve.
Because it combines Rolex's most sought-after reference and the chronograph's most iconic dial. Demand consistently exceeds supply, including on the second-hand market, which maintains a high market value.
The Panda is the white dial with black counters. The reverse panda is its opposite: black dial with white counters. Both exist on the same references.
