Founded in Rome in 1884 by the Greek silversmith Sotirio Bulgari, the house broke away very early from the Parisian grammar to build its own: generous volumes, unapologetic yellow gold, combinations of coloured stones that the good taste of the day considered daring, and a vocabulary borrowed from ancient architecture. It is this Roman signature that makes a Bulgari piece recognisable at first glance.
