Designed in 1969 by Aldo Cipullo, the Love line is built around a simple idea that has become iconic : a rigid bracelet in two parts, fastened using a screwdriver, with the screw motif visible all the way around. This technical detail is also the most reliable checkpoint when assessing a second-hand piece.

Each piece is examined in the boutique : hallmarks, serial number, condition of the screws, clasp play and the regularity of the stone setting. The Love is worn close fitting, almost like a fixed piece of jewellery. Cartier states sizes in centimetres of internal circumference : as a rule, take your wrist measurement rounded up to the next centimetre for a classic model, and the exact measurement for a small model. A size that is too large puts strain on the screws and damages the gold through friction.

No, the rigid bangle is not adjustable. Only Love rings can sometimes be resized, within narrow limits and depending on the width of the band.
Metal hallmark, Cartier signature, individual serial number, regularity of the screw motif and the weight of the piece. Every jewel sold by the boutique undergoes this inspection before being offered for sale.
